A sustainable journey from raw material to finished frame
At OPO Scandinavia, we strive to continuously find new ways to improve our operations and make them more sustainable. We constantly test, evaluate, and analyze our production methods and material choices. The desire to reassess our current practices is not only a way to better our sustainability initiatives but also an opportunity to stimulate innovation and new thinking throughout all parts of our business.

Frames Made To Last
Our designs are meant to last. For us, this is an inherent goal since we invest so much time and care in both designing and producing our frames. This is also why we keep spare parts for several years. Our frames are meant to be repaired if needed.
Manufacturing high-quality products built for longevity is also a core part of our sustainability efforts. Higher durability means less waste. At the same time, we continuously test, evaluate, and analyze our methods and material choices to improve our operations at all levels.
Examples of how we work with sustainability:
- Our eyewear cases feature a core made from compressed paper, making them lighter. They are also delivered folded to take up less space during transport.
- We reuse packaging and zip bags.
- We do not print electronic invoices.
- Our design department continuously reviews our processes to minimize the number of samples, which saves material, transportation, time, and costs.

A Sustainable Position
We use Position Green, which provides a tool for CSRD reporting, for the entire Seafire Group, of which OPO is a part. This helps us measure transportation, waste management, and more. All with the aim of streamlining and systematically improving the way we work.

Material is an Active Choice
Working with quality materials pays off, especially in the long run. Our products last longer, making our operations more sustainable and resource-efficient. We believe that consumers appreciate this, as it improves their experience. More and more people want to know which materials are included in their eyewear. This is quite natural. When wearing something so close to the skin, it must not contain any substances that cause allergies or irritation.
All the materials we use comply with the EU's REACH regulation, which governs the chemical components present in materials. But we don’t stop there. Whenever possible, we always choose the material that is best from a sustainability perspective. For example, we increasingly use Eco-acetate where suitable.
ISO 9001 and 14001
You should be able to trust your suppliers. This applies to us and our subcontractors, and we know that our customers have the same expectation. We are certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001. This means that our internal procedures and working methods are now clearer to everyone – including our customers.
What is ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is a standard for quality management in business processes. It outlines how the organization is led, with clear structures and processes. This ensures that services and products maintain high quality and that the customer’s interests are at the center.
What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is a standard for environmental management systems. Environmental management in an organization provides a structured and systematic approach to reduce the company’s environmental impact. At OPO, this means clear environmental goals such as sustainable design, sustainable materials, and sustainable transportation.
